Colorado Conservation Voters Recognize Legislators' Records Denver, CO – Jefferson County State Representatives Debbie Benefield, Sara Gagliardi, Gwyn Green and Andy Kerr were named “2008 Conservation Champions” in recognition of their environmental leadership by the Colorado Conservation Voters (CCV). The annual recognition is given to legislators who achieve 100 percent scores on CCV’s Legislative Scorecard and display leadership on environmental issues as conservation champions. The Scorecard provides nonpartisan, factual information about how each member of the legislature voted on a range of conservation issues. “It is an honor to be recognized for my conservation voting records,” said Rep. Benefield. “Environmental issues are a top priority in Colorado, and it is of the utmost importance to protect our wildlife, water, air, and unique way of life.”
“Sound conservation policies are a necessity to our state’s future, and we made great strides this session,” said Rep. Gagliardi. “I appreciate the CCV’s recognition of my efforts, and am pleased to see conservation of Colorado’s resources become a top priority.”
“It is a great honor to be recognized by the CCV,” said Rep. Green. “I supported many environmental bills this year, including House Bill 1164, which ensures that utility-scale solar energy projects will be opened to Colorado markets.
“We passed many important bills this session that strengthened Colorado’s environment,” said Rep. Kerr. “I was proud to support these bills, including House Bill 1280, which keeps more water in the river to safeguard ecosystems. We made great strides and will continue to do so, and I am grateful for the CCV’s recognition of our efforts.
